Tata Safari Storme revealed at Auto Expo 2012

Tata motors have taken off covers from the much awaited upgrade of the existing safari, the Safari Storme. The new Strome is not an all-new model but revised version of the existing Safari. The new SUV gets the Tata’s X2 modern platform which is currently being used in the India’s first crossover Aria. The shift to new platform will for sure bring stability and add to overall refinement.

Tata has also provided major styling tweaks at the exterior which includes all new front grille, Auto Folding mirrors, Projector headlamps, Dual Chrome exhaust at the rear and minor changes in the side cladding to give the look of the car. At the rear the spare wheel is now removed which will be tucked under the body. The interior part didn’t get major change, it carry just new redesigned dashboard with improved plastic quality.

The new Safari Strome will be powered by the same 2.2-litre 16-valve Common rail Dicor engine which pumps out hefty power of 140PS. According to the company, they had worked on the engine to improve overall refinement.

The new launch will for sure turn off the customers who were anxiously waiting for a new version since months. There is nothing much in the new Strome to give competition to XUV500. Some things which would have done the magic for TATA includes integrated touchscreen GPS at the dashboard, Automatic Climate control, Steering mounted controls, Cruise control, etc. Now it all depends on the pricing strategy, let’s see and pray that pricing doesn’t kills the new Safari Storme.
