Porsche Shows 918 Spyder Concept at Geneva

Porsche has released the new 918 Spyder at the Geneva Motor Show with a new mid-engined conceptual bomb. The company claims to achieve the emissions level of 70g CO2/km with a fuel efficiency of 78mpg US. According to the company the car can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 320 km/h.

The machine is powered by 3.8-liter V8 engine which pumps out a power of 500HP @ 9200 RPM, Further it is electro-enhanced by way of motors which add 218HP more power to it.

Power is transfered to All-Wheel drive system by 7-Speed PDK gearbox, which the energy is stored in the liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery behind the passenger seat.

The driver is offered with four different running modes which can be selected using a button provided on the steering wheel : The E-Drive mode is for running the car under electric power alone, Hybrid Mode to use both electric motor and combustion motor to increase the fuel efficiency, Sport Hybrid Mode uses both drive system by with the focus on performance, and Race Hybrid mode in which the drive systems are focused on pure performance with the highest standard of driving dynamics on the track, running at the limit to their power and dynamic output.

Inside the Spyder, people will be able to preview Porsche’s future interior design/tech ideas.

Prime examples include the already-popular lighting variations (Eco mode is green, Sport is red, etc.), a very-Ferrari multi-function steering wheel, and Range Manager, a nav-system-based program that A) shows the car’s current range – on a map – when driving, and B) shows the car’s electricity-only range when in a city, along with potential filling stations.

Porsche says the 918 Spyder can even beat the Carrera GT on the Nordschleife. I’ll believe it when I see it. Until THAT insane feat is proven, have a look at Porsche’s official pics below. Live shots are on their way.

2010 Toyota RAV-4 Facelifted Revealed at Geneva Show

Toyota has showns its latest version of the Compact SUV- the RAV-4 2010, which has made its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The new facelifted model comes with a new front end treatment, revamped interior and some minor engineering tweaks which has reduced the CO2 emissions.

The exterior upgrades are confined to front end of the car, which includes newly designed bonnet, wider grille with horizontal bars, new projector type headlamps and reshaped bumper.

Inside the car, the only changes introduced is the availability of the new leather/Alcantara seat upholstery.

In Europe, the RAV-4 2010 will be offered with 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine which chirps out 158HP and 2.2-liter D-4D with a option of 150HP or 180HP.

Mitsubishi ASX Photos Released Ahead of Geneva Debut

Mistubishi will be showcasing the latest ASX Crossover in the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, which is already in sale in Japanese market. The car is scheduled to go on sale this summer and is powered by 1.8-liter direct-injection engine which is designed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in collaboration with MMC.

The 1.8-liter unit develops a power of 139HP and is coupled to six-speed manual transmission which is specifically optimized to return low emission figures and high fuel efficiency. the car will be available in two variant, front wheel drive and all wheel drive.

The pricing details for the European and other markets is yet to be released by the company.

Official: Audi RS5 Gets 450 HP V8 Engine

Just a day after the leaking of the brochure of the Audi RS5 Coupe, which is to premier at the forthcoming Geneva Auto Show, Audi has came forward and made official announcement regarding the powerplant of the new Audi RS5.

The new Audi RS5 will be powered by 4.2-liter V8 engine which develops 450HP power @8250rpm and maximum toque of 430Nm between 4000-6000 rpm.

The 4.2-liter unit is mated to seven-speed S tronic transmission, the car now sprints from 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds with a electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. On request Audi can increase the top speed to 280 km/h.

Like all the RS models, The RS5 will also applies its power to the road with quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The tail end now comes with two oval exhaust pipes integrated within the bumper. According to audi, the spoiler in the tailgate automatically gets extendted at the speed of 120km/h and retracts at 80 km/h.

The Car will be made available with 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with 265/35 tires as standard along with optional 20-inch wheels shoed with 275/30 tires.

The sale of RS5 will begin at this spring and is expeceted to be priced around 77,700 euros.

2011 Audi RS5 Coupe Brochure Leaked with Photos

A German Audi agency has mistakenly released the official brochure of the new Audi RS5 Coupe which is dated to premiere at the Geneva Auto Show beginning from March 2.

The photos depicted in the brochure shows that the RS5 Coupe body treatment is different from the less powerful S5 Coupe.

Looking at the pictures, we were able to spot new front bumpers with larger air vents at each corner, honeycomb grille without horizontal bar, revamped rear bumber with integrated diffuser and two new large oval shaped tail pipes.

The exterior enhancement further adds LED tail lamps, new alloy wheels and a new spoiler.Looking in the interior we cant see any noticeable change over the S5 coupe.

At present not much details about the performance of the car is known. But it is expected that it will be powered by a V8 turbocharged engine.

New Kia Magentis Sedan to Debut at New York Show

The all new next generation Kia Magnetis, which is commonly known as Optima in several market worldwide, will make its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show, which is going to be help in April 2010.

The teaser shots of the 2011 Magentis reveals that the sedan will come with a coupe-like roofline and will accompany much sportier design as compared to the today’s model.

According to the company, the new Magentis will be longer, lower and wider than the previous model as it features a new wheelbase and hence will offer more space for both people and luggage.

The 2011 Magentis is expected to reach the North America markets by autumn 2010, while its sale in Europe may begin in spring 2011.

Maserati Announces Quattroporte Awards Edition Ahead of Geneva Show

We had already seen many automakers company launching special edition models or limited edition models for special occasions, But this time Maserati has decided to premiere a limited production edition of the Quattroporte sedan to celebrate the 56 awards from automotive and lifestyle publications.

The new “Award Edition” model is based on the top-end Quattroporte Sport GT S with the upgraded 433HP V8 engine, along with some interior and exterior touches.

The special edition model will be offered in uniqueQuarzo fuso exterior colour which is a pearlescent metallic Grey with a golden hue. Some of the exterior enhancement made to the car includes new 20-inch Multi Trident rim in satin finish, new polished brake calipers and brushed treatment on the chrome parts as well as on the side air vents and radiator surround.

The Interior upgrade is limited to the addition of Potrona Frau leather seats ombined with perforated Alcantara with a new pattern, and the headlining is also in Alcantara. In interior parts it also gets special brushed aluminum doors and Piano Black wood mouldings while the boot is finished in black shade and features chrome details and side leather pockets.

The Quattroporte Sport GT S “Awards Edition” is expected to go on sale in the late 2010.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Pricing Announced

As the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is about to make its way to the dealers across the US, Hyundai has revealed the pricing details of this newly designed midsize sedan.

The 2011 Sonata comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder mated to six-speed automatic transmission as standard delivering 198HP or 200HP with dual exhaust system .

The Price starts from $19,195 for the 198HP GLZ model and goes upto $22,595 for the 200HP SE model and topping to $27,395 for the limited edition model along with navigation package. ($720 extra Handling and Freight Charge).

The company claims that GLS will provide a fuel efficiency of 24mpg city and 35mpg highway, best in its class. While the other Sonata models return 22mpg city and 35mpg highway.

The Sonata competes with the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima and Chevrolet Malibu.

R56 MINI Cooper S tune to 195HP

UK based tuner Superchips has revealed its new upgradation for the R56 MINI Cooper S. The tuner has revamped the engine and has optimized the 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine timing, fueling and turbo boost parameter.

This optimization has led to the increase in power upto 20HP, now the car delivers a output of 196HP and 282Nm torque.

Supechip announced that the upgrade is available only for MY2006 onwards R56 MINI Cooper S models. The tuner has set the price at 445.00.

Renault Wind Roadster Officially Revealed

The official photos and details of the Renault’s latest small coupe-roadster is out. The Renault Wind is set to premier at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show.

The Wind will be competition with other roadster available in the UK markets like Peugeot 207CC. The two seater roadster has been built on the base on Twingo. The Wind also comes with an electric roof which can rotate upto 180 degree into the trunk unlike the retractable hardtop used in 207CC.

At present Renault has not released much details and performance figures. But we are expecting the Wind to be powered by the same Twingo’s petrol engines, 1.2-liter turbo with 100HP and 1.6-liter unit with 133HP.
