Mitsubishi ASX Photos Released Ahead of Geneva Debut

Mistubishi will be showcasing the latest ASX Crossover in the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, which is already in sale in Japanese market. The car is scheduled to go on sale this summer and is powered by 1.8-liter direct-injection engine which is designed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in collaboration with MMC.

The 1.8-liter unit develops a power of 139HP and is coupled to six-speed manual transmission which is specifically optimized to return low emission figures and high fuel efficiency. the car will be available in two variant, front wheel drive and all wheel drive.

The pricing details for the European and other markets is yet to be released by the company.

Mitsubishi ASX Compact Crossover Confirmed For Geneva Motor Show

Mitsubishi will be revealing its all new compact crossover in the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The ASX is a five seater crossover which is set to go on sale in late spring 2010.

The ASX will be powered by Euro 5 Compliant 1.8-liter turbocharged direct-injection engine which is developed my MMC and Mitsubishi together. The car will also feature automatic Stop and Go feature inorder to reduce CO2 emission and to increase fuel efficiency.

Coupled with 6-speed manual transmission the 1.8-liter Vtec engine will be providing a better fuel efficiency along with minimum emission and more power on the wheels.

The specification and performance figures has not been revealed by the company. But according to source this crossover will be introduced to many countries across the Globe.

We can just wait for the 2010 Geneva Motor Show to get detailed specification of the ASX crossover.

Mitsubishi uncovers PX-MiEV Plug-in Hybrid SUV Concept at Tokyo Motor show

Mitsubishi hidden bomb Concepts, Galleries, Hybrids, Mitsubishi, Mitsubishi Concepts, Tokyo Motor Show at this year’s Tokyo Show is the PX-MiEV, a compact sized four-wheel drive crossover fitted with a 1.6-liter petrol engine and two electric motors, one for the front wheels and one for the rear. At low to medium speeds the PX-MiEV can rely on the front and if necessary, the rear electric motor also to motivate the vehicle. At higher speeds the gasoline engine, which is also used to generate electricity for the electric motors, kicks in to help power the crossover.

The PC-MiEV is equipped with battery pack that can be replenished through regenerative breaking, the gasoline engine, a regular household plug or a high-power quick-charging station. In electric-only mode, the PX-MiEV has a range of 30 miles or about 50km.

The Japanese firm said that the PX-MiEV is good for 117.6mpg US which come to around 2.0 lt/100km or 141mpg UK.

2010 Outlander with EVO Facsia Pics on Mitsubishi’s U.S. Website

While Mitsubishi has yet to issue an official release on its archaic and infrequently updated U.S. media site, the facelifted 2010 Outlander has made its appearance on the company’s public website… As with the Chinese and Australian market versions of the compact SUV, the U.S.-spec 2010 Outlander gains a newly designed front fascia with different headlamps, reshaped bumper, hood and front fenders along with a “jet fighter” look grille that brings the vehicle’s styling in line with the brand’s latest models.

There’s no word if the U.S. market model benefits from any other cosmetic tweaks, mechanical upgrades or equipment improvements, but what we do know is that, according to the company’s website, the 2010 Outlander will go on sale in the States in November.

Unless Mitsubishi decides at some point to share any information with the press, we’ll probably have to head over to one of the firm’s dealers to find out more on the ‘10 Outlander…

It goes without saying that Mitsubishi’s Lancer EVO will once again be one of the most popular subjects among tuners. We’ve still got about three weeks ahead of us before the show, but until then, hit the break to check out a dedicated high-res gallery with some of the customized EVOs that appeared at last year’s SEMA.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X

Mitsubishi has launched the 2010 model year version of the Lancer EVO X for the Japanese market. Changes for the new model year are limited to the beefier side skirts, the use of new plastics up front that are said to weigh 1.5kg or about 3.3 pounds less than those they replace, a new color LCD screen between the speedometer and rev-counter with more functions, improved insulation and some minor tweaks to the interior trim.

In addition, for the 2010 model year, Mitsubishi said that it is dropping the five-speed manual gearbox option from the top-of-the-line GSR Premium Edition that will be available only with the six-speed twin-clutch SST transmission. In Japan, prices for the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X begin from 3,150,000 Yen (about $35,420 or 24,100) for the base RS model.

UK Police Employs Mitsubishi i-MiEV

While police officers in the States are getting ready to welcome the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice, in the UK the boys in blue -well, at least some of them- will soon be cracking down crime with the help (?) of Mitsubishi’s all-electric i MiEV. The five-door micro car was showcased in full police livery at the National Police Show in September and according to the Japanese automaker, since then the company has been swamped with requests from UK Police Forces to trial the i MiEV.

Mitsubishi said that the first production versions of the i-MiEV are set to arrive in the UK in November 2009 and will be on the road in December 2009, with West Midlands Police being the first department to run the all-electric micro car in full operational use.

The four-seat, bubble-shaped i-MiEV gets an electric motor that makes 47kW / 64HP and 180Nm (132.8 lb-ft) of peak torque. Power is delivered to the rear-wheels with Mitsubishi claiming a range of 100 miles and a top speed of 81mph (130km/h).

Certainly not the best choice if you’re trying to pursue someone but we gather that the i-MiEV will most likely be used by urban cops for light tasks.

Mitsubishi PX-MiEV Concept Hybrid Will be Previewed At Tokyo Motor Show

Mitsubishi will be showing an all-new compact crossover concept model called the PX-MiEV at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show in late October. At 4,510mm (177.6-in.) long, 1,830mm (72-in.) wide and 1,655mm (65-in.) tall, with a wheelbase of 2,630mm (103.5-in.), the PX-MiEV Concept is shorter (-130mm / 4.3”) but wider than the current generation Outlander SUV.

The concept is motivated by a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain that combines a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and Mitsubishi’s all-new S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control), that utilizes E-AYC (Electric-powered Active Yaw Control) to transfers torque to the rear left and right wheels, with a pair of electric motors (one at each axle) and a battery.

The battery can be replenished either through regenerative breaking, the gasoline engine or via a regular household plug or a high-power quick-charging station.

Mitsubishi said that at low to middle speeds the PX-MiEV relies on the front electric motor to move the vehicle. If the driver is confronted with snow, rain or any other low surface friction situations then the system automatically switches to four-wheel drive mode by feeding power to the rear electric motor.

When the battery is low on power, the system starts the gasoline engine to generate electricity and automatically switches to the series hybrid mode using the electricity generated to power the two electric motors.

At higher speeds the gasoline engine drives the front wheels but if necessary, the system switches in both front and rear electric motors to provide additional power and assist the petrol unit engine, providing high acceleration.

The PX-MiEV’s exterior styling is rather simple while the futuristic-looking interior is said to have been designed to give an image of an airplane cockpit in order to improve the driver’s concentration – or so Mitsubishi claims.

TommyKaira Tunes Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart, First Official Photo

It looks like Japanese tuning firm Tommy Kaira is on a roll lately. Besides releasing initial details on its proposed tuning packages for the latest generation Toyota Prius hybrid, Tommy Kaira has also published the first official photo / rendering of the company’s take on the Japanese domestic market Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart that has been christened the Colt-R.

We’re still short on details, but the picture reveals that the modified Colt-R gets a cosmetic makeover with a redesigned front end that includes a new grille and a more aggressively styled bumper while the 5-door supermini also features a carbon-fiber racing strip that runs nose-to-tail.

As with other Tommy Kaira projects including the Prius, the Colt-R has been stripped out of any Mitsubishi and Ralliart brand logos.

While we don’t have any other photos of the final product (the rest of the images in the gallery depict an unfinished prototype model), we suspect that Tommy Kaira’s Colt-R will also get a newly styled rear bumper with matching side skirts, roof spoiler and different alloy wheels, and maybe even some mechanical upgrades.

The standard JDM Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 154HP that sends power to the front wheels through a Getrag five-speed manual gearbox.

The Japanese tuner said that further details and photos will be released at a later date.

2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Facelift

While all eyes were (and continue to be, for that matter) focused on the Frankfurt Show premieres, Mitsubishi quietly took the wraps off its gently refreshed Outlander in China. As you can see from these photos that come to us from China’s Auto.sohu, just like the Outlander GT Prototype that was displayed at the New York Show this past April, the 2010 model year Outlander obtains a more aggresive fascia with some heavy Lancer influence in that ‘jet-fighter’ grille.

Unless we’re missing out on something , the reshaped front bumper, side mirrors, fenders and hood pretty much complete the cosmetic upgrades for the Chinese market model.

We’re not sure if the Japanese automaker will use the Frankfurt Show to launch the European market 2010 Outlander, but if it does, it will most likely feature the same styling tweaks as the Chinese market model.
