R56 MINI Cooper S tune to 195HP

UK based tuner Superchips has revealed its new upgradation for the R56 MINI Cooper S. The tuner has revamped the engine and has optimized the 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine timing, fueling and turbo boost parameter.

This optimization has led to the increase in power upto 20HP, now the car delivers a output of 196HP and 282Nm torque.

Supechip announced that the upgrade is available only for MY2006 onwards R56 MINI Cooper S models. The tuner has set the price at 445.00.

MINI Countryman Crossover Officially revealed: HD Gallery

Just one day after the leak of photos of MINI Countryman Crossover, MINI has officially revealed the details and full gallery of its much awaited first crossover model. The crossover will be MINI’s first car to have four doors, all-wheel-drive system and will be measuring around four meters in lenght.

The Crossover will accompany the same interior and exterior from MINI. Few changed which were introduced includes chunkier nose job, increased ride height, new alloy wheel designs and new revamped headlamps.

The Crossover will come with elevated seating position and also feature MINI center Rail that extends from center to rear allowing the cupholder, sunglasses, armrest etc, to be attached and slid whereever they are needed.

The Countryman will come with four seats as standard, but buyer can also opt for a three-seater bench seat free of cost. The Contryman will be offered with a choice of three petrol and two diesel engines, offering power from 90HP turbo diesel engine in the One D to 184HP 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with twin scroll tubocharger and direct fuel injection.

Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start and Stop system and gearshift point indicator will be offered as standard feature in all variants. In addition to the six-speed manual gearbox the petrol variant will also available with six-speed automatic transmission.

The Countryman will be offered with lot of sporty customizations and equipment options for both exterior and interior including panorama roof when launched. The officialp presentation of the Contryman will be taking at the 2010 Geneva Auto show.

MINI Countryman Crossover First Photos Leaked

We already know that MINI will soon be releasing its new crossover model before February, but till now before launching the first photos of the 5-door is out on internet. The new crossover will be getting MINI’s optional all-wheel-drive system, four doors and four full size seats.

According to MINI, the concept model shown in Detroit is very much near to the production model. The crossover will get same interior styling as the MINI with same dashboard layout. It will also come equipped with doors and rooftop.

The company had not yet made any official announcement of it crossover. We can expect more photos and details coming shortly.

MINI Officially Confirms Series-Production of Coupe and Speedster Models!

We’ve yet to see the MINI Coupe Concept in the flesh – let alone it’s Speedtser twin that has yet to be revealed, but parent company BMW officially confirmed today that both models will enter series production and that they are to be built at MINI’s Oxford Plant in the UK. The important announcement was made by Dr.Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management, BMW AG, during his two-day visit to the firm’s UK operations earlier this week.

Business Secretary Lord Mandelson commented: “The production of the two new MINI models is very good news for Oxford, and for the UK car industry. British drivers have had a long love affair with the MINI and I’m sure that this will continue for many years to come.”

The company said that the start dates for the production of the two new sporty MINIs that will join the existing line of Hatch, Clubman and Convertible models, all of which are made at the Oxford plant, will be confirmed at a later date.

The two seater coupe and its drop-top sibling will most likely be available with the 1.6-liter turbocharged MINI John Cooper Works power train that pumps out 211HP and a peak torque of 260Nm (192 lb-ft) or 280Nm (206 lb-ft) with the overboost function.

However, we wouldn’t be surprised if MINI also offers the standard MINI Cooper S’ 175HP 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol while a high-performance diesel option should be considered a possibility.
