British car maker, MINI has finally entered the Indian automobile market with the launch of four models in India, the MINI Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper Convertible and Cooper S Countryman. MINI is owned by BMW, and the cars will be sold by exclusive dealership in New Delhi and Mumbai.

The Cooper hatchback comes with a premium price tag of Rs.24.9 lakh, even costlier than VW Beetle hatchback which cost Rs.19 lakh. MINI Cooper can seat four comfortably and is powered by 1.6-litre petrol engine which churns out power of 122BHP at 6000rpm and 16.3kgm torque at 4250rpm. Power hunger buyer can opt for MINI Cooper S which features same engine but comes with twin-scroll turbocharger, thereby bumping power to 184BHP at 5500rpm with a torque figure of 24.47kgm. The MINI Cooper S is priced at Rs.27.9 lakh.

The Cooper Convertible comes with the same heart as that of the MINI Cooper and is priced at Rs.29.99 lakh, can be touted as the cheapest convertible available in Indian market. The costliest model of the four is MINI Cooper S Countryman, which comes with increased ground clearance, 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with 184BHP power and is priced at Rs.31.99 lakh.

All the cars will come with six-speed Automatic transmission. However MINI didn’t stated any further introduction of diesel mill to these cars.
